Lowlands and Borders Deer Management provide a range of nationally recognised deer stalking and deer management training courses in Scotland. These include DMQ Level 1 Training and Assessment and DMQ Level 2 Training and Assessment - also known as DSC1 and DCS2.
We also provide an Introduction To Deer Stalking course for beginners.
Courses and Fees
Introduction To Deer Stalking | £120 per person
Our Introduction to Deer Stalking course is designed for novices and newcomers to the sport of deer stalking. During the course our experienced stalkers will guide you through the principles of deer stalking. This includes deer identification, habitat, gun handling, safety and the art and skills of deer stalking.
DMQ Level 1 Training and Assessment (DSC1) | From £300 per person in small groups including manual, DMQ Registration and Assessment. 1 to 1 basis by enquiry
DMQ Level 1 Training and Assessment (Deer Stalking Certificate 1) is a nationally recognised qualification. Whether you are a newcomer to deer stalking, a seasoned deerstalker, or perhaps you are an experienced Deer Manager, DMQ Level 1 Training and Assessment (DSC1) provides a comprehensive guide to deer stalking techniques and management.
DMQ Level 1 Training and Assessment (DSC1) is the foundation of deer skills development and is a prerequisite for DMQ Level 2 Training and Assessment (DSC2).
Pre DMQ Level 2 Training (DSC2) | £150 per person
Pre DMQ 2 training is designed to prepare candidates for DMQ Level 2 witnessed stalks, leading to assessment (DSC2).
DMQ Level 2 Approved Witnessing, Leading to Assessment (DSC2) | £600 per person
DMQ Level 2 (Deer Stalking Certificate 2) is a nationally recognised practical based qualification which enables candidates to demonstrate the deer stalking techniques, skills and knowledge they have acquired in the field after successfully completing DMQ Level 1 Training and Assessment (DSC1).
To achieve DMQ Level 2 Training and Assessment (DSC2) candidates must demonstrate they have stalked, humanely dispatched, inspected, transported and prepared deer for storage under witness observation on 3 separate occasions to the required standards.
